CCAT is a non-political, non-religious, and a not-for-profit organization that was specifically formed to serve the Chinese-Australian community in Tasmania,Hobart.

Since its establishment in 1969 many individuals over many generations (including life members) have joined CCAT as members. CCAT has also organized and been involved in various activities promoting multiculturalism  as well as fundraising for victims of natural disasters.

CCAT receives council grants for specific programs that are of benefit to the community. But it is also dependent on fundraising activities to maintain the level and quality of services needed to carry out its activities. So far, with the generosity and support of corporate sponsors, donors, members, and the public, CCAT has been successful in the delivery of its services.
